But I am too much of a "foodie"
Being a foodie is probably the best thing to be in our day and age. Instagram has opened our eyes to the limitless possibilities that brilliant chefs create daily—especially those IG worthy, photogenic-ass, unicorn-decorated insert dish here. Although we all eat that shit up (literally), that does not necessarily mean we have to give that up in order to reach our goals—shocker, right?
“Dev, I am way too much of a foodie to diet like you”, “I love food too much to give it up”, “um, because donuts”, are just some of the things that I hear every day as to why people don’t want to give being coached a try. Totally fine. But what if I told you that you don’t have to follow a super strict meal plan, eating the same shit day in and day out with a ton of cardio on top of it all to achieve that goal of yours? And I know what you’re thinking right now—what bullshit are you trying to sell?
The answer is nothing (besides my advice, of course). All these “meal plans” that you see being sold on social media are one of the following: bullshit, bullshit, BULLSHHHIIIITTTT, or Bu77$h!t. I am not trying to take away from the hard work these influencers are selling but what I’d like to point out some key factors. More often than not, these “fitness gurus” (especially the real skinny ones with that same stupid side, booty pose), are not even certified in nutrition let alone personal training, do not create custom meal plans, and charge you for a new one when you get tired of it.
Here’s why that route is purely a cash grab: yes, putting yourself into a caloric deficit combined with some form of exercise will help you lose weight but it is *not designed for the long term*. It is more likely than not, a “6-8 week shred”. Do I sound like I know exactly what’s been targeted at you? And after that period is over, what happens? You’re all excited about your progress and treat yo’self, right? Totally cool but then what—repeat the plan, get bored as hell, revert back to old eating habits. OR buy a different meal plan from someone else. And repeat.
So back to my original point—meal plans don’t work for normal people. I can probably write a book on why you shouldn’t default to following one but here is the most important reason to me. Meal plans are designed for athletes because it needs to be taken to that extreme level. If you’re not an athlete, then why eat like one? Athletes sacrifice a lot for their sport (especially bodybuilding), and we at SFB don’t expect you to make the insane amount of sacrifice as athletes do—besides, you’re so fucking busy anyways. Our job is simply mend your relationship with food. You can be a foodie and lose weight at the same time. Taking a deeper look at your eating habits, maintaining what works for you, improving what hinders you, and promoting life-long skill is what is going to get you to your goals and keep you there.
My hope for each and every client that I have is to get them to a place where they feel confident enough from my teachings and coaching to not need me anymore. Some may take months and some may take years, it doesn’t matter as long as you don’t feel shitty after every time you have more cookies than you “should” (not an excuse to go kill a row of Oreos right now though).
Go book that consultation. It’s free. It’s an hour to chat with me. And its obligation-free.
Thanks,
